Worried about breast lump

Hi
I noticed that my right breast was feeling tender the other day. I get this now and again before my period, so wasn't concerned, but had a quick feel in the area and was shocked to find a slight lump/swelling/thing.

I have small breasts and the lump is hard to find, but I'm sure it's there. It's perhaps 1cm and not hard. When I press down on where it seems to be, it's hard to feel much at all.

Anyway, I saw my GP on Monday, but when he examined me, he couldn't feel anything. I took his word for it, and forgot about it for a few days. Yesterday, though, I noticed it was still tender and had another feel. I found the same thing again.

I'm worried now and have managed to get a second gp appointment this morning (miracle), so will have this different gp check it out.

Really hoping it's a cyst or something hormonal.

Any reassurance welcome while I wait to go for appointment!

Hi, I had exactly the same a few weeks ago. I found a small lump on the side of my breast. The same as you, I struggled to find it again when being examined by the doctor, but when he did manage to feel it he arranged for an appointment at the breast clinic.

They called me the day after, which worried me, and I went for a mammagram a few days later.

Everything was fine, like you I have small breasts and they really struggled to do the mammagram because of lack of breast tissue. They told me there and then that all was ok and even done a scan to be 100% sure. They actually said that women with small breasts are more likely to notice small lumps and bumps which more often than not turn out to be glandular.

I know it's a worry Minty, but hopefully they will see you soon and everything will be fine, and the mammagram really does not hurt one little bit.

Hope that helps, good luck.

Thanks Dotty, that's helpful Glad yours was fine!

Going to GP in a min, so will report back later. Even put a little 'x' on the area where I can feel it, so hope that helps her find it too!

Back from GP.

She had a good check and said it all felt normal. She prodded the area where I'd marked with an 'x' and said she thought it was just normal breast tissue (she acknowledged that there was a slight something there, but not a distinct lump). She suggested getting it reexamined in a few weeks if I'm still concerned.

I think I have to accept that all's well having had two breast exams in the space of a week. I'm a born worrier so not easy to push out of my mind, but will do so.

Good news Minty. Try not to worry about it. The chances are if we were more buxom we would never have noticed.

Ha ha, I love that you marked the spot with a X, wish I had thought if that.
