Headaches-can't cope anymore

I get so many headaches, used to be hormonal, recently I've got one nearly all the time. I feel sick and dizzy, my eyes hurt and my head aches. I can't cope with it. Asked for strong painkillers at the chemist and they're not working. Had to phone in sick today, all I can do is lie in bed but think it's making it worse

Poor you :( I would go to your GP to be prescribed something stronger imo. Are you on a contraceptive pill by any chance?

No I'm not, I take an anti depressant so not sure if it's a side effect but don't think it is. It just won't go. Tried eating something and sleeping a bit. It's over my right eye that's the worse pain. Feel like a right whinge!

Go and see the GP. They may advise a trial of medication such as amytriptiline (apologies for spelling) or something else appropriate. Perhaps they will suggest a different antidepressant if you feel the worsening co-incides. Are they tension related at all?

If it's over your eye it could be a migraine. Maybe you could do with something like a Triptan or Migraleve.

What painkillers are you taking? Some painkillers can cause medication over use headaches. 3 soluble Asprin in a glass of coke can get rid of a migraine. Or one I have found effective, lately, is fast acting ibuprofen. Wilko's, Asda, and Tesco do them for about 94p, they have got lysine in them, Nurofen do the same drug but it's about £3.00.

Make an appointment with your GP. In the meantime keep a headache diary and a food diary, they are really useful.

I get loads and loads of migraines, I'm having Botox on Thursday.
