Have just come on again, I know I was on when I went to a gig with misdee and have had one inbetween, but the gig was only 6 weeks ago, why am I having so many periods, normally I am a 28 day gal.... am a bit worried.

my sister went through that.
She ended up being sterilised to try and sort it out....it didn't.

She had a hystorecomy(sp?) in the end as it was so bad she was bleeding more than she wasn't.

IMHO I think it's a rather extreme course of action but it was her choice....

SparklyGothKat · 08/07/2006 14:40

yes rather extreme, wasn't expect it today as I was only on about 2 1/2 weeks back. My periods seem to be all over the place atm, and I don;t know why.

I don't think she ever found out the reasons why either.....

Are you on any hormonal contraceptive? That could be it. I had 3 periods in 6 weeks on the mini-pill

SparklyGothKat · 08/07/2006 14:45

no, am not on the pill (kept forgetting to take it)

had a lot of stress or rushing about lately? that made me go late this past cycle.

see a GP, there's a NUMBER of reasons why you could be having lots of periods, including thyroid malfunction.

SparklyGothKat · 08/07/2006 14:49

not stressed (just a little because of the move, that hasn;t happened yet) normally if I am stressed I go late, not early.

I have been doubled up with this period, they are getting more and more painful. I will book an appointment for this week, I am scared what if I have something seriously wrong...

SGK

You need to see the GP asap and ask for a referral to a gynaecologist. Prolonged bleeding like this ought to be checked out by such a person.

A possible cause for all this could be fibroids. These can cause both heavy and irregular bleeding.

make sure you get a referal to an obs/gyn when you go to the GP - it might just be a hormonal imbalance - a mate of mine had a similar problem and had to have mega doses of some vitamin type things (magnesium?) along with high dose of the pill and it sorted her problem out fine
