Painful armpit lump

MegaClutterSlut · 06/11/2013 13:27

Hi all, about 4 days ago I was shaving my armpit and it felt a bit tender. Checked the area and there is a pea shape tender lump. It also hurts when I lift my arm up a bit. I'm pretty sure it's my lymph node. There is no redness or anything so I don't think it's an ingrowing hair

I have googled Blush the advice it says is to wait until a week after my next period to see if it goes before going to the doc (am due on any day now) my tits are killing me my question is, would you wait? Thanks :)

I'd defo see your GP but chances are it's a sebaceous cyst. These are basically infected hair follicles under the skin and can become painful/infected. They normally go away on their own within a week or so.

Well, I keep getting this just before my period. Not every month, but pretty regularly. It then goes away and I heave a sigh of relief.. Til the next time it happens. Apparently can be related to hormones. I am getting on,so wondered if could be related to start of perimenopause..

Anyway, would second seeing GP if you are worried, and if it doesn't go away.

I would leave it a couple of weeks

I had a kind of double hideous lump in my armpit a few weeks ago, with a spotty head on one side - apols if TMI - but both bits gradually subsided & have disappeared now

but if still there after a fortnight, do go to GP

(I am way past menopause btw so my advice may be irrelevant Confused)

I have similar. Got DH to put a needle in a couple of days ago and managed to squeeze out a hell of a lot of pus. Sorry it's a bit grim.

It's gone down a lot in size but is still quite painful. Tend to keep cleaning it with diluted dettol.
