Why does my throat feel like this?!

The top of my throat, in the middle under my chin REALLY hurts. Hurts like hell to talk (not good as in a customer facing job) and hurts to touch too. Kind of feels like when your glands are up but not the right place for that.

Not tonsils as I'm a veteran of tonsillitis , none of the usual tickly/scratchy throat things either. Accompanied with an epic headache.

Booking doctors appt ASAP anyway but any ideas?

And eating/swallowing hurts badly too, none of my usual pain relief tricks (hot apple juice with honey, gargling aspirin etc) are working

Have you taken a painkiller? Paracetamol or ibuprofen?

There are salivary glands under your chin. If it hurts to talk, it could be laringitis or a throat infection.

Is it your neck that hurts?

Yep painkillers doing sod all. Didn't know about the saliva glands. Neck has been hurting for a while but that's likely to be general work related stuff.

It's just above where my voice box is I think. Feels like it's my throat but also the back of my tongue if that makes any sense at all

Can you spot any ulcers or anything? I had horrendous sore throat when I had hand foot and mouth :(

I've had exactly the same thing for the past couple of days. Started off with a stiff neck (left side) which I assumed was a pulled muscle and progressed to a sore throat - centre just under chin. Can't see anything but tonsils are fine, not sore or swollen. If I press under chin it hurts and once I start talking I feel ill and fluey. Lots of heartburn symptoms as well. Giving it another few days before I see the doc as it maybe just viral.
