Thyroid test results

Hi I have had quite a lot of thyroid symptoms in the past year or so including weird period, cold hands and feet, cold body, dry skin, hair loss, a bit of weight gain and I had a thyroid test last week.
I have had the results and they are:
TSH 2.02
FT4 15.8
FT3 4.32
Total T4 72.3

Everything was classed as normal apart from the Total T4 which is "outside the optimal range but within Reference Range."
What does that mean? Should I go and see an endocrino?

Hi!

I understand it to mean that it's not in the "normal" range but it is within the range expected. My doctor explained that there was a change in the expected range of tsh that decided if you were affected or not. Hopefully that makes sense to you.

Thanks secrets, that's bad lonely! Do you know how borderline you are? What were your results?

I guess if I showed these test results to my gp he still couldn't give me any treatment as they are within ref range.
I had thyroid tests done on the NHS before I had these done, but they only tested for TSH and FT3 and they both came back within the range. My GP is actually quite nice but as he explained, he can't justify having more tests done if my results are normal.
So I had some more done privately through a company recommended by Thyroid UK and that is what I got (as above), all within range apart from TSH (just slightly higher than Optimal range) and T4 (lower than Optimal range.).
As my GP can't do anything, I am tempted to see an Endocrinologist privately to see if these results are an indication of some further problems.

There is a brief comment at the end of my test results form which states:
"Conditions associated with decreased T4 levels include: Chronic liver disease, Protein malnutrition, Nephrosis (I don't even want to google this, it sounds scary!), Severe nonthyroid illness, Pituitary insufficiency, Pregnancy third trimester.

So maybe I should investigate a bit more especially with the symptoms I am experiencing.

Has anyone had similar test results and had them investigated at all?

Did you get effective treatment in the end?
Thank you Thanks
