They haven't decided on the optimum daily dose, but the cheaper 500mg should be fine and you can take every day. I have just started taking Starflower oil, which is apparently twice as good as Evening Primrose and also good for the skin. If you take Starflower though, it mustn't be taken with blood thinning drugs such as apirin or when pg.

I used to take this for pre-menstrual sore boobs. Basically what you buy over the couter isn't strong enough to make a difference. I'm sorry I can't remember what mg capsules I took but they were prescribed by the GP and they were MASSIVE! I also can't remember how often I took them (it was over 2 years ago!), but I have a feeling I took them every day. But I got all my advice from my GP, sounds like you may need to see a different one if possible as yours hasn't given you much information has he...?

I take the Seven Seas Evening Primrose Oil plus Starflower Oil - it's in an orange tub and you take 2 capsules a day.

I was very sceptical about it working but I've been taking it for several months now and the breast pain has started to improve
