Advice needed about knee pain

I'm 43 and a regular name changer! I'm on arcoxia for my joints

Recently I've been having a great deal of pain in my right knee. So much so that I can't get out of the bath using that leg to push myself up iyswim.
I also have to take the stairs one at a time only using my left leg and drawing my right leg to it.

I went swimming today and was dismayed by the lack of power in that leg compared to the other one

Should I bother the doctor or will he just tell me to rest it?

Is this about your arthritis getting worse in one joint or is the pain different? (i.e. an injury)

MadeOfStarDust · 30/10/2013 13:15

I would go to doc or does your hospital allow you to book physio direct (ours does) I had a knee problem - right knee too! just went wrong one day getting off the floor....

Went to our physio direct and they gave me exercises to make it strong again and a strap to support it meanwhile - took 6 months but it worked!

I had to have an MRI scan on my knee for suspected cartilage tear, after GP thought it was knee cap tendons. X-rays show the bones but for soft tissue an MRI is needed.
See GP first.

Do you have joint problems in more than one joint? RA tends to be bilateral and almost always affects numerous joints. Also, if you're carrying any extra weight, your knees will feel the pressure.

Good luck!

spidersolitare · 01/11/2013 18:36

Yes I'm carrying too much weight.
Yes it's multiple joints

My knee is a different pain, it feels all loose and hurts when I twist it. Other joints feel dry, toothache, type pain accompanied by a stiffness in the joints. Feet, elbows and jaw are okay, but most other joints ache and are stiff.

Worst ones are my hands (can't knit any more) and shoulders/ neck
