Hi! Have just spent a fortnight in hospital (away from my 2 dds - one 7 months (still breastfeed - there's a story!) and one nearly 7 years and dh with above disease. would love to know if anyone else has had it - it was sudden onset, paralysis for about a week (v scary), in icu but not ventilated. all horrid experience - last 12 months have been crap for health - spd when pregnant and on crutches for c16 weeks, nearly lost baby at christmas, gall stones started in january, waiting for surgery for that and now this - bit much i feel. upside is losing 4 stone in weight (hardly surprising and did need to!). anyone any info on getting better from gbs or know anyone else that's had it - thanks!

oh my god, what a ruff time you've had.
Well done for coming through it so well and still breastfeeding..you deserve a medal.
I have nursed a few patients withe this illness in varying degrees of it, but have no personal experience of it.
Hope you are well on you way to being back to normal.
wishing you a speedy recovery
x

I dont have direct experience of it but the son of a man I worked for got it in Oman many years ago. It really knocked him off his feet for a while.

It doesnt sound like you've had a good year to be honest so possibly a good idea to speak to your GP/Consultant about it and see if you can have counselling for all of the above. I know I would need it after that lot.

In the meantime Ive found \linkwww.gbs.org.uk/index2.shtml\this for you}

thanks all of you for all that...will also have a look at the website - looks interesting. as am fairly immobile have had referral to soc servs for help at home - any had any experience of direct payment at all - seems all designed to not be user friendly and a pain to set up - need to find own carer, pay them, do the paye and that's after setting up a new bank account (easier said than done believe me!), filling in countless forms etc etc.....maybe i'm a bit cynical about life at the moment....
