Recurrent thrush - flucanozole?

Argh please help.
Hadn't had thrush for years until recently. Now got it for the third time in about 2-3 months Sad

I'm going to have to see GP I think but seems a bit daft and I don't really want to have to get my vag out

Does the longer course of lower dose flucanozole really work? I have never taken it as I go for the pessary usually. And does it tend to upset the bowels? I have the opposite of a cast iron gut, mine is made of fairy sparkles and unicorn dust.

Yes, I am certain it's just thrush. And I'm not diabetic, had some general bloods done recently including glucose.

It's getting me down a bit.

I think I had thrush perhaps twice before I had DD, then I got it around the time she started weaning constantly for 6 months so I feel your pain! (or itchiness).

The GP can do a swab to check whether you have the standard thrush (candida albicans, I think) or something different, which would require a different treatment. Although no treatment really helped me....

I did find that stopping using feminine wash (just water now), cutting out sugar from my diet as thrush actually spreads from your digestive tract across the perineum, wiping more front to back, and a couple of topical treatments from old threads on MN! These were a cut garlic clove used as a pessary (painful and truly stinks, but at least your fanjo is safe from vampires), live yoghurt, and lavender essential oil. The lavender stings like hell, but did seem to finally do the trick.

But yes, you need the GP!
