DH has had tonsilitis. He seems to have passed some sort of infection to me despite me having my tonsils removed years ago. Went to dr today only to be told that they don't prescribe anti biotics unless there is risk factors, which I don't have. I don't mind and totally understand why but it's so bloody sore! I've been taking paracetamol/ ibrufen but it still very painful. Any home remedies to help me cope?

yes you can gargle with salt water, search it online I do this and it helps. I also use a throat spray cal difflam but speak to your pharmacist first. Covonia also does a throat spray but I've never tried it it says on Boots website that it helps fight infection.

Well done to your doc! (sorry for your pain though)

My mum keeps getting prescribed antibiotics for colds and it drives me crazy.

I do realise that they are warranted in certain cases btw.

Hydrogen peroxide gargle works really quickly almost like antibiotics

Fucky- I totally understand the reasonings behind it, but they just left me with no other options except paracetamol.

Think ill pop into the pharmacists and ask about throat sprays and hydrogen peroxide.

Thank you
