Strange Reaction to Chlorine - Anyone Else Had This?

When I was a kid, if I swallowed even the tiniest bit of chlorinated water, I would very soon afterwards have a very alarming runny green poo. I don't remember when it stopped (it might not have? You learn to never swallow pool water!), but it was pretty horrid.

Does or did anyone else have this? Or do your kids?

No, but I get very itchy in chlorine, and DS1 gets hyper and needs showering down thoroughly afterwards.

Itchy I'd expect, it's very drying. Hyper sounds odd.

I used to be very stressed in pools, well, still am to some extent. But that's because every time I was taken to a pool, my parents would explain to the teacher etc that if I said I needed the toilet, when we were in the pool, to let me go. And every single bloody time, the teacher didn't really listen, or didn't pass the message on to the pool people, so every single time, I would be saying "no no no I really do have to go, you have to let me go" and they would be treating me like someone who was mucking about and causing trouble and trying to get out of the pool. And then I would sh*t myself.

How distressing for you. Have never heard of this, and glad you've learned not to swallow the stuff.
DS1's hyper-ness is to do with his intolerances -apparently it's quite common for children with food intolerances to react to airborne chemicals/strong smells etc, and the gas the evaporating chlorine makes is probably to blame

Dh has a skin allergy to chlorine but not noticed the other dleightful effect.

It's really not an effect you can miss, if it happens. Ugh.

I don't know whether anyone else in my family has this. I haven't noticed the boys having it, either. Thankfully.
