Hi, today I had root canal on my front tooth. I had an abscess which the dentist drained and filled the tooth. I was too embarrassed to tell her that the infection had been there for years. A few years ago I got a spot on my gum above the tooth which was filled with pus, I kept bursting it when it appeared. As there was no pain in the tooth,I didn't go to the dentist. I know that was really stupid.
Tonight I've been googling dental abscesses (I know, bad idea) and have scared myself silly with stories of infections spreading.
How do I know if the infection has spread? I was not given antibiotics or anything.
I think I'm going to have to go back for another tooth as well. It's been filled but it's still painful if I put pressure on it.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
