What is it about having a period that makes you feel really wiped out?

After nearly two years of no af I am again rediscovering the joys of feeling crap just before and during my period. What is it that makes you feel so tired? I don't like it!

Oh My god!! Is it true about a burst of energy? I've been feeling like shite for about a week or so with my period and today (starting to feel normal again) I cleaned all my wooden floors (this is VERY unusual!)

I shouted at dp on Sunday wasn't me, was my hormones Seriously though, it really felt as though something else was taking over me!
