is an accerated heart rate normal during an allergic reaction?

yes, but it would depend on the severity of the reaction.
I would not expect to see it on someone who was just having a local reaction to an insect bite. but it would be a potential indicaition that the wholl body is taking part in the reaction.
what sort of alergy?

yes accelerated.

dd1 heart rate was fast on sunday when she had an allergic reaction. they didnt say how fast it was, but did look a bit surprised. dd1 had swelling of the lips and thumbs, plus was feeling a little breathless.

When the body has an allergic reaction histamine and adrenaline are released into the blood stream. the adrenaline would cause the fast heart rate. sounds like a pretty serious reaction.

still not serious enough for us to be re-referred to allergy clinic
