Thread to feel sorry for me - I've got tonsillitis

Boo Hooo, poor me. Am bloody hot, working on a project that no-one is interested on and only have 7 bits of coverage, have loads going on in my head, childcare issues, patio taking longer to build than the pyramids, blah de blah, and am shatteed as couldn't sleep partly cos of heat but more down to the fact I can't swallow. It hurts so much and every time I try and yawn it's bloody painful. So, I'm feeling sorry for myself, just until I get home tonight anyway and then I'm going to eat ice-cream and drink wine and be happy again, at least until the morning!

I have just had a white Magnum as I have a cold AND hayfever and it has soothed my scratcy throat.

Send a minion forthwith.

Hi Thomcat

I had raging tonsilitis a few months back. Once it got hold, I couldn't even swallow my own saliva without whimpering in agony and lay awake all night in pain with only the World Service for comfort. It was only a course of Penicillin that shifted it and only Co-Codamol that made it bearable. If it is getting worse, I suggest that you go to see your GP before it gets to the 'I'd quite happily lie down and die now' stage.

Poor, poor you!

Loving the sympathy - it's really helping

Have really busy weekend and loads going on at work and at home so can't be ill, so this reason I have made appt to see GP tomorrow. Tried justy to get a prescription without an appt but they won't do it. Can't take the nighttime swalling pain thing. Bad enough in the day.
Feels like I have swallowed a croton and it's lodged in my throat and nothing can get past.

Poor TC. Tonsilitis is nasty.

Northerner · 04/07/2006 15:34

I ended up in hospital onece with tonsillitis, it developed into Quincy and I was in hospital for 48 hours on a drip.

Go to GP now.

Thomcat · 04/07/2006 15:38

Jesus - hospital! Don't panic me!!!!
Have appt for tomorrow morning.

Can I still kiss my babies and snuggle up to them in the morning as usual or will I infect them?

Depends if it's viral or bacterial......

Issymum · 04/07/2006 15:44

I wouldn't take the risk until you've seen the GP.

Thomcat · 04/07/2006 15:47

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh can it get any worse?
