Wobbly knee

I have always been fit and active and I'm slim although old! (69). A couple of weeks ago I had a strange pain all down the front of my right leg, not very bad but uncomfortable and at the same time my right knee went wobbly when I was walking up a step. Since then the pain/discomfort has gone away but my knee gives way occasionally, I can't run up and down stairs like I used to and I can't get up from squatting without hauling myself up on something. I've got a horrible feeling that this is OLD AGE and I will always have to be careful now. It's really pissing me off as we spend a lot of time on our boat and this is just going to be a nuisance.

Has anyone had this, does it go away, is there anything I can do?

I wouldn't be putting this down to old age necessarily. It came on suddenly so may well be an injury. I would be inclined to try RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) for a few days and take some anti inflammatories if your stomach and health allows. If no improvement see your GP.

Hope you're back on the boat soon.

Thanks Matilda, I'll do that.
