DS2 is now 15 months. Up til now the GP has been prescribing us Oilatum for the bath and Doublebase cream and occasionally hydrocortisone when it is really bad. I dont like using the hydrocortisone but at the moment the Doublebase doesnt seem to be keeping it under control and he screams when I put it on him. And he wakes ALOT at night, scratching and crying and we are all exhausted.

We have an appt to see GP tomorrow. Someone recommended Cetraben (sp?). Any good? Any other suggestions I could ask the GP about? Any advice would be very gratefully received. I am even tempted to ask GP about a sedative for him so we can get some sleep

Aveeno cream and bath oil are fantastic, we tried loads of different things with DS, oilatum, aqueous cream, E45 and only when doctor prescribed aveeno did things improve. cant reccomend it enough

this is the sort of thing meant by oats. You can get preperations that you wrap in a muslin and hold under a runnign tap. I've nevr actually tried them. I stuck to the hydrocortisone, as it worked wonders with no side effects. I was reluctant at first, but it was so effective! DD was bathed using aqueos cream instead of soap too. She's now outgrown it.
