Can little people (age 4) get migraines?

My ds is not well today. No temperature to speak of, but complaining of a sore head, has been sick once, wants the curtains closed, staying in bed, doesn't want to watch tv, says he 'like it better with my eyes closed'
Have phoned GP, waiting for a call back. Sounds exactly like a migraine to me (I get them, but didnt start getting them till I was 16). Is he too young? Poor wee thing, he's never ill, but today he is just not himself.

i remember my first migraine when i was 6yo .. i was still in infants then!

Oh poor thing It does sound like a migraine. My sisters suffered from migraines which started quite young, maybe sometime between the ages of 7 and 9? With them it was often triggered by lack of sleep. Has he eaten anything different which may have triggered it?

DS1 went through a phase of having a lot from about 4-6. In his case it was linked with not eating enougth the day before. Sugared water helped, but it knocked him out each time for a good few days.

I think this is what it must be. Poor wee thing.
He hasn't eaten anything unusual or that he hasnt had before, or any of the triggers I know of (chocolate, cheese, red wine (!!) etc). He ate well yesterday but didnt want his breakfast today and has eaten nothing. I have been using my Gran's old trick of flat lemonade for sickness so maybe that will help like your sugar water, jimjams.
I just didnt know if it was possible for a 4yo to get one but it looks like it is. Poor kid, I hate them, get one most months, but then his is unlikely to be related to his monthly cycle! Could have done without this, its the first day of the summer holidays here and I had lots of nice things planned!

He doesnt like oranges.
Its not the heat here, its not very warm here today.

There isn't anything awful it could be that would mimic a migraine? I think he would have a temp (and BOY can he spike a temperature!) if he was iller than 'just' a migraine.

i would get migraines if i had a cold head, like not drying my hair properly or wind chill, also some strong smells, esp floral and perfumes.
My dad said i had a bad fall and injured my head when i was about 2yo.
My dd1 fell down a few steps when she was 1 and hurt her forehead .. she's told me she gets headaches but they're still quite rare not nice at all!!

I was worried about that as well harrissey but ds1 never ran a temp with them and was only sick when he moved. He can't talk and it was only when he reached 6 that he was able to respond to "where does it hurt"-he pointed at his head and I figured I'd been right about it being migraines. Horrible though.

I always used to rotate his neck to make sure there wasn't any stiffness. You could ask your dd to sit up with legs out strraight in front of her ansd to bend her head so her chin touches her neck - if she can do that then there's no neck stiffness.
