WWYD? Stomach cramps

We went on hols late Sept and got sick. DH had gastroenteritis very badly and was very unwell. I had a few days 'dicky tummy' but nothing too serious. However, since being back I've not felt altogether and had no appetite. For a week now, I've had what's felt like trapped wind, but these past two nights Sun/Mon the pain from stomach cramps has kept me awake, last night was horrendous. It's made worse by lying flat, I've pain in the centre of my abdomen and in my back and thought I was going to throw up fire! When I sit upright and take rennies it does alleviate the pain.
Called emergency out of hours and they didn't seem too concerned but suggested gall stones, due to having an ache in my back, and to call GP this morning, which I have.
They are having staff training and there are no doctors available today, I told them what the out of hours said and they said the nurse will have to call me as she is handling all emergency appointments.
Very annoying, but since I've been up, the pain seems to have gone. (It did yesterday too). So I'm not sure whether to just plod on and see if it continues to get better or push things with the nurse to get checked out, if it's just gas I'm gonna be really embarrassed, but I wouldn't have thought trapped wind would have lasted longer than a week?
Sorry, not looking for a mumsnet diagnosis, just wondering what anyone else would do, or if anyone has had a similar experience?

I would get it checked, if the pain is that bad - could be a kidney thing . where did you go on hols to? how is your dh? did you eat something that was most likely the culprit ie seafood?

Thanks the nurse said she'd see me, we went Tunisia, I may have drank the tap water inadvertently, husband ate anything & everything from the all inclusive buffet to begin with, then nothing for three days, I don't have the same toilet issues he did though thankfully, just painful cramps/loss of appetite/nausea, seems to come & go though

is he ok now though, proper food poisoning can affect for ages
you may have to do a stool sample for analysis
