Hi

I had a coil fitted in April, since then I have had two periods 21 days apart.

I am now 27 days along from my last period and have not come on yet. I'm getting a bit panicy, I do not have a hormone coil so my periods should not be affected by it.

What do I do - could I be pregnant? When is the earliest I can test? I'm worried.....

Have you checked that you can feel the threads of your coil?

girlsmum · 30/06/2006 19:33

Er, ages ago and I couldn't feel them. I just thought it was me being thick and not looking properly.

I feel quite embarrassed now.

Why not have another go at seeing if you can feel them. If you can't it may have fallen out.

also quite a few people get minimal periods and some get no periods at all on the mirena

I am sure I would have felt it if it had fallen out but I'll have a bath later and see.

How early can you do a pregnancy test to check?

foxy, girlsmum said she did not have a hormone coil.

foxinsocks · 30/06/2006 19:43

oh sorry! misread as 'I do have' one!

I would prob do a pregnancy check just to be sure - you'll be 28 days tomorrow so it's worth checking

I have had a replacement non-hormone coil fitted today and I am just revising the leaflet that comes with it.

It says that you may experience disturbances in menstrual bleeding but it sounds as if it is far more likely to be that your periods might be heavier and last longer than before.

it advises if you cannot feel the threads, or if your period is delayed you should see a doctor.

Best use a condom this weekend just in case.

Hi,i had my first coil on monday. Went really well but was given no info, leaflet or conversation, about anything afterwards. I don't know anything about 'feeling the threads' etc. Feel a bit panicy now
