Had smear test today and turns out she was unable to send it off as there was too much blood for them to be able to seethe cells.

The nurse said there may be blood because i am due my period in a weeks time....but thats a whole week away?! So why would that be showing now...any ideas?

Booked for another in 3 weeks - 2 weeks after my period...joy!

You could have a cervical ectopian - entirely harmless and very common, where cells that are meant to be inside womb grow outside womb and mean that the cervix is liable to bleed when poked. Mine always does. Surprised your nurse didn't say this...

Thank you for your quick reply!

Oh a doctor did mention cervical ectropian to me once but that was quite a while ago now and didnt explain it very well so just forgot about it. Makes sense so thank you :-)

Yes I was diagnosed with this at my last smear. It did bleed but she sent it off and came back normal so nothing to worry about. Worth seing Dr for a diagnisis

I'm surprised she didn't send it anyway. I would have! I also would advise you not to have another one for 3-4 months in order for next smear to be taking new cells not disturbed cells but I guess every area is different!

Yes I think you either bleed or you don't. I always bleed! I too have an ectropian (they can develop at any time - usually from being on the pill I think)
