Painful keloid scar

I have a keloid scar in the middle of my back, that's about the size of a 20p piece. It can be very sore or very itchy and it is an almost permanent irritation.

I have tried steroid tape and silicone but didn't keep it up for longer than a few months. I should say that the scar is two years old and is red and raised.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to treat it or experiences of keloid scarring?

I've got a keloid about 20cm long on the inside of my elbow. I saw a dermatologist about it, and they prescribed the steroid tape, a gel called kelocote and then injected it with steroids. The injections took a lot of the height out of it and stopped the itching.

My gp (well one of them in the practice) would have done the injection if mine had been smaller, so its worth asking if yours can
