MY DD has had a letter today about this jab and I am SO unsure about it. I'm not anti vaccines she's had every jab she's been sent for I'm just really unsure about this so would like some opinions on this please.

I would do a lot of research before I would give my DD this jab.

It is a vaccine that is designed to protect against certain strains of HPV - (not all of them) that might cause a cancer which is already very rare. The vaccine AFAIK is unproven as the first batch of teenage girls that had the jab have not reached the age of 25 and so haven't had a smear test to see it it works!

The Japanese have stopped the program because too many of their teenage girls seem to have bad reactions.

If my DD was offered the jab, I would refuse.

This is what I'm worried about CoconutRing I'm always pro vaccinations but I'm worried about this one

I'm in the process of recovering from cervical cancer. I'd say go for it but then I obviously have a vested interest.

My dd has had it and was fine.

Looked into it big time - dh is in a medical job so he did a good bit of journal based research.

Dd1 has had her first jag last week - it's not only the cervical cancer protection but also the genital wart protection.

I've always been pro vaccine too, but this one makes me more hesitant.

I've only heard anecdotal evidence of side effects so far but have been meaning to post an OP like yours myself. It would be good to hear what others think.

Is it true schools can give the jab anyway, even if we say no?
