pain in shoulders post c section

since having my c section I have twinges in both shoulders and wondered if it was a side effect from the local anaesthetic I had. I had trapped wind in the right shoulder at the time which was agony but it is now both shoulders that give me problems. Anyone else had this?

Just wondering if it's a posture issue? How long ago was your c-section? Are you BFing?

Where abouts in your shoulders? Don't know if C-section can cause something which would do it, but some issues (enlarged spleen for eg) can cause referred pain in the shoulder. I think it is usually in the tip / blade and only one though. If you are worried, call midwife or GP for advice and some reassurance, especially if it persists or worsens.

my c section was 11 weeks ago and yes I am breastfeeding...the twinges are in the tops of my shoulders and catch me at certain times, when I am reaching for something, or sometimes lifting my baby, which worries me a bit as I wouldn't want to drop her obviously! I do have a clot in my uterus but don't think that is related...

I have absolutely no medical training but think I remember my sis (who has some) saying pain which comes and goes reliably (eg occurs with certain movements) is usually muscular-skeletal rather than some kind of symptom of something else. Still, previous advice stands though - if it is causing you concern, speak to midwife or GP. Hope it resolves soon.

It definitely comes and goes, is just strange that I never had problems before. I have started to work out again and lift some weights so it will be interesting to see if it resolves. Thanks,
