Hi I'm finding it hard struggling with adhesions from previous surgery, causing pain and bowel obstruction, also the anxiety that this brings. If in USA I'd probably have 'ARD' adhesion related disorder, the term for the mixture of problems they bring both emotional and physical. Had emergency laparotomy in the start of the year to remove 1m of bowel and there were dense adhesions. The surgeon said these were 'all gone' after but I know and can feel, they can (and do) reform.
Has anyone any tips to share for living with this problem? I've tried Amitryptiline for the pain but can't take much of it as also taking Fluoxetine (Prozac) and they interact. I know it's also possible to take Amitryptiline for depression (so treating both that and pain at once) however have been told the levels needed for depression are much higher than for pain so it would probably make me incredibly woozy (not ideal with children)
Any ideas welcome. Have been advised not to take opiates like codeine as they can block you up.
