Ovarian cyst

Hi there

I am going in to hospital Wednesday to have a laparoscopy and a hysteroscopy, I have a 6cm cyst on my ovary which needs to be removed and I am also having an investigation re endometriosis. This was found out at a scan on the 19th September. My symptoms (which I’m assuming are related!) over the last couple of weeks have worsened, I feel nauseous almost constantly (I’m definitely not pregnant) my stomach is so bloated and uncomfortable (I noticed yesterday there seems to be a hardened band around the top of my stomach as well), I’ve also gained weight.

Has anyone else had these sort of symptoms or been through this procedure? I’d be grateful for any advice as it’s really getting me down.

Many thanks

Have had the hysteroscopy though not with a GA so assume that's not the same as you are having?
I doubt if the cyst is causing you to feel sick or bloated. 6cms is still quite small. I had a 3.5cm cyst and didn't know- was scanned for something else when they found it.
Mine wasn't removed. They watched and waited and after 2 years it went away. The 'rule' is to remove cysts over 5cms but it does come down to drs' own decision and they type of cyst. Some will leave them because they are very very common and tend to disappear.

I hope you get on okay but I doubt if a 6cm cyst could cause you the symptoms you have.

I have 3 or 4 ovarian cysts, one of them is 6cm. Mine were found in August this year during a scan at an infertility clinic. Iv'e been having irregular periods for around 2 years, not sure if the cysts are causing that. Also i need to pee a lot and need to go urgently sometimes. I often feel quite full and bloated and nausea but i think most of that is due to my IBS. Not sure if the cysts are causing my infertility. I sometimes get a dull ache in my lower back. Iv'e read that these symptoms can be related to ovarian cysts.

I had two large cysts about 7 years ago. One was the size of a melon and the other a cricket ball! Main symptoms were very heavy periods and a painful dull ache. To start with I wasn't sure if I had a kidney infection because I couldn't pin point the pain, it just seemed to move around my lower abdomen, front and back. My stomach did swell a little, but only towards the end, jus before my op when the cyst must have been at its largest. I was diagnosed with endometriosis after the op and had a series of injections. I don't remember feeling nauseous or having a hardened band though. Good luck with the laparoscopy etc.. .
