Hello,

Sorry if this has been done before, just looking for some opinions. I've never had a sicky bug before, tend to get sore throats, colds etc. if I have been sick it would be hangover related or maybe a one off but never over a period of time.

Thursday night, came in from work, had smallish tea as felt really tired. Went to Bed at 10 and was then sick from 10.30 - 5 am every half hour. Got up at 6 to go to work and fainted (I know). Slept all day Friday apart from frequent trips to loo and was sick up until about lunchtime.
Got up yesterday assuming I would be fine and felt like I had been hit by a bus. Had loads on and managed most of day but felt very weak. So thirsty and ate some cereal twice. Went to bed at 7 and woke at 9 this morning, feeling just the same!!! Really queasy and pains in stomach.

I have now not been sick or had upset tummy for about 48 hours but can't believe how rough I feel. I'm quite sure I could be sick if I had anything more than water.

I'm sorry if I sound pathetic. As I say, never had anything like this before. No temperature so wondered if maybe something I ate?

I am ttc at moment and cycle has been all over the place since coming off pill but had af last week so don't think it could be anything like that.

Any ideas or tips for recovery! Thank you.

Poor you! You sound the opposite of pathetic to me.

Fwiw, when I had noro last year with virtually identical symptoms (also fainted) it took me about four days to feel signifcantly better, but at least a week and a bit before I was fully recovered. It was horrible. Phoned doc but she said only to contact her if I wasn't feeling considerably better after 10 days - which I was thankfully! (But that gives you an idea of how long the effects can last.)

So, take the time to recover properly. Have a couple of sips of water (or flat coke or flat Lucozade) every 15 mins - it's surprising how much you can get down if you stick with that - important to keep hydrated. YOu can survive without food for ages so only eat when you start to feel hungry and even then stick to crackers for first day or so. Then try a banana or dry toast.

Hope you start to feel better soon and take it steady fhs!!! Smile

Btw, obviously, have absolutely no medical knowledge at all so if you continue to feel rough, go and see the doc! But good sign if you have stopped vomiting ... .

Thank you. I think it has just thrown me as I have been lucky enough not to have had something like this before. Don't get me wrong, constantly choked up with everything going but seem to miss the sickness.

Not one I would appreciate again. A banana sounds appealing so may try that. Thanks again. Was feeling particularly sorry for myself before!
