My back has gone - help!

I woke up this morning in agony.

My back is so, so painful. I can't bend forwards or backwards, I have to stay straight. It hurts to walk.

Currently sitting up straight on the sofa with a firm pillow in the small of my back.

I have ibuprofen, paracetamol, co codamol, co dydramol, and tramadol. What is the best tablet/combination to take?

What strength is your cocodamol?

Oddly I've woken up like this too and have taken paracetemol, tramadol and codiene. I have a hot water bottle shoved down the back of my pants which is usually the best remedy for me. Hope it eased off for you

I would personally go with cocodamol 30, x2 if necessary plus ibuprofen. Careful of combining drugs that contain paracetamol as you could end up overdosing on it. My GP also said be very wary of cocodamol and tramadol. I'm intrigued how come you have this array of strong drugs!

If your back is in spasm try a hot water bottle as well.Find a position that is most comfortable , for me this would be lying on the bed with a pillow under my knees.

If still in agong call the doctor for diazepam to relax the spasm. Maybe you have some already?!

Hope you feel better soon. Come and join us on The Back Story down thread.

Thanks for the replies! Am feeling a bit better now, still sore but a good 80% less so Smile

I have all the painkillers due to very bad period pains, an op on my shoulder and the other shoulder being frozen! I'm like a pharmacy!

I took tramadol with ibuprofen and paracetamol. Felt a bit woozy but it helped. Don't have diazepam though!

Will have a look at the back thread - thanks Smile

I've suffered from back spasms in the past and the only thing that worked for me was tramadol and a low dose (2mg) diazepam.
I was unable to get out of bed to get to the doctor so asked for a telephone consultation. I was prescribed the meds over the phone and got DH to pick them up from the chemist.
Might be worth a call.
