I have them and today is the first day - I've had them before but this time is so painful I could cry. I have some over the counter stuff but it doesn't seem to do anything. I know I'm being pathetic but hoping someone may come forward with a magic remedy!

So sorry to hear you are suffering..have been there and I feel your pain! One thing that can help (if they are external piles)is to put some ice cubes in a plastic bag and hold them against the site..can reduce the swelling and make you feel more comfortable, plus some Ibruprofen to help with the inflammation. Then a trip to the doctor for some stronger cream such as Xyloproct which is more effective than the over the counter stuff.Good luck!

GP. They have seen it all before. Xyloproct is truly wonderful stuff.

Thank you, I know where I'll be going on Monday! I will ask for Xyloproct - useful to know there is something stronger.
