Hiya, have you spoken to your GP?

Only asking as there is a condition called chronic obstructive sleep apnoea which causes the snorer to stop breathing multiple times a night.

It is far more common than people realise.

Worth googling.

I have this and now sleep using a machine which stops me having the apnoea attacks.

Your GP can refer you to a sleep clinic for assessment.

I used to snore, but don't since I lost weight (a lot). Same with FIL. Is this possibly a cause for you?

mineofuselessinformation · 01/10/2013 20:03

I had chronic sinusitis for years which I didn't know about. I have no idea if I still snore as badly (dd1 recorded me over the summer Blush), but I sleep much better now, so suspect I don't snore as much / at all.
Ask your gp to check your ears and nose.

Is it a weight issue? I can tell when DH has put on a few pounds because he suddenly starts snoring again.

Sleep apnoea is commoner than people realise but not as common as increased weight or alcohol intake causing snoring. Do you have excessive daytime sleepiness? sleep questionnaire

Ooh actually on that website are loads of suggestions to almost self-diagnose your snoring problem

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 02/10/2013 11:29

Hi, thanks for the responses. No, haven't been to the GP with that; I have seen her 4 times over the last 2 weeks for other issues so think I will give her a break for a bit. I'm due back in 3 weeks time so will bring it up then.

I don't think it's a chronic issue, I certainly hadn't snored on regular basis before. Once when it was hot.

I did put on weight recently, over 2 stone in a short period of time. I'm size 14 now gone up from 8-10. My BMI is in the overweight category Shock but fortunately it all gone into arse and titsGrin

Still far from happy about that!
