down below. Hmm

It's so uncomfortable. I've used Sudocrem, germolene, Vaseline. Nothing helps.

I think it's after we first used a new brand of condom a couple of weeks ago. I itched a bit then but it went.

Then we used the same brand a week ago and it's gone bonkers down in my nethers.

Could it be a reaction to latex?

Can an allergic reaction to latex last this long?

God, what if dh has been fooling around and has given me some STI lurgy? I'll throttle him.

I'm off the doctor's tomorrow morning. I will be Blush as it's all a bit of a mess with my scratching. BlushBlushBlush

Any discharge?

WowOoo · 01/10/2013 10:54

It could be a reaction to latex. If you've been scratching that could prolong it.

It could be thrush. You can get stuff OTC I think to give it a try before docs.

Prevention is better than cure. So, never ever have sex again, OK? Grin

No discharge.

Would thrush come on suddenly like that?

I've been googling and now I'm scared it's something more sinister.

Could still be thrush even without discharge.

Thrush can come on if you're run down or been on ABs recently.

Burning itching and swelling does sound like thrush.

Canesten and antihistamines

I remember when I was young I had an itchy hot "down below" but was the vulva not inside the vagina.

WinkyWinkola · 01/10/2013 11:09

Thrush? I really hope it is thrush. In the sense that it's nothing else. Thank you

could be latex sensitivity and then prolonged symptoms if you have been unintentionally scratching, I am incredibly sensitive to latex and products with scents (have to wash all underwear and then rewash with no soap/powders/conditioners) and I find that it can cause swelling and soreness for several days.

Canesten cream does sooth it but once you stop using the canesten the itching and discomfort comes back. I also take an antihistamine daily. even the non latex condoms cause me some discomfort, but i'm not willing to take the risk of a non barrier contraception.

I have had similar with vaginitis due to dryness. It goes on to become a very wet watery drippy discharge, which then goes pink (bloody). When I first had it, condoms made it worse, as did moiturisers, sex, sitting down, walking........ so it could be the start of something like that.

Used 'yes' lubricant as an oily soothing cream, but needed oestrogen to solve the problem.

GP said dermatitis. She drew in her breath the way you do when you see bad sunburn on someone. Got cream. Please let it work!
Thanks all.
