C section - stomach muscles

Hello! Smile I had an emergency c section on the 6th this month and I'm not 100% about what happens with your stomach muscles afterwards. Any info would be great!
Were your stomach muscles back together at your 6 week check? Smile
Or does it take longer?

Hope you are beginning to feel a bit more normal now a few weeks have passed. I had an emergency c section a couple of years ago. I never had great stomach muscles before I fell pregnant as I am a bit of no exercise/lazy cow! However they did go back to how they were before (which is not to say great) but as good as they were pre-pregnancy. I think if had bothered doing my Pilates etc. as my friend did then my core muscles would be a heck of a lot better. Hope that makes sense, basically it will take a lot longer than 6 weeks but they should be healing nicely at that stage and depending on how good they were prior to the birth they should turn out the same from my experience.

Thanks for the reply Smile

I think I've been quite lucky in that I've felt well since day 1 at home, I was full of energy and didn't feel too sore.
I am also a lazy moo cow who has never been fit before! So minimal stomach muscles going on, good to hear that your stomach went back to normal!
How long do you think it took approximately? Smile
I hope to start exercising but I've heard you can't until your muscles are back together?

Gosh I would double check with your doctor about that but I was dog walking for long periods of time before my 6 week check up as a way of gentle exercise. I think Pilates is the one to do to "knit" the stomach muscles back together with minimum impact. But I would ask someone with more fitness knowledge than myself!
