my mum is 55 and for the last 6 months or so has had permanent burning pain in her lips, tongue and roof of mouth.

Dr's can not seem to find a cause. it is getting to her so much she is becoming depressed. Has anyone heard of anything like this or have any experience of it? thanks

There is a syndrome called burning mouth syndrome and is more common in middle aged women. Has she had any bloods done? Is she diabetic or have thyroid problems? Does she wear dentures?

It's just a suggestion, it might not be. Has she had swabs done?

Have they excluded oral lichen planus?
