labour pains a month after giving birth...???

I am in excrutiating pain - can only describe like labour pains....whole tummy area feels tight and contracted. Searing sharp pains (like contractions) when I move around - either to sit down or get up or when walking.
I gave birth a month ago and am having my first period at the moment so it's obviously linked. I know it takes a while for body to get over birth, but this is so painful and distressing.

I had exactly these pains 4 years ago after I gave birth to DS. I had them for the best part of a year but only if I had sex before my period.

Anyone experienced anything similar?

yes had hot bath, taken nurofen and have a hot water bottle. None really helping. I had the usual uterus contracting for few hours after giving birth then felt absolutely fine. It's only a month later now that these pains are here.

I saw a gynacologist the first time it happened - as it was happening before my period. But the investigations didn't go any further - she suggested endometriosis. Bloody hell, that's all i need!

Is it a bit like labour pains?

don't worry you didn't panic me! yes, it can be crippling for just a moment. balls, i can't go on the pill due to history of high blood pressure. Hmmmm..... Have you found doctors/gynies to be knowledgable and understanding?

He DHW... I had this after my first. They said it was my uterus going into spasm... gave me anti spasm meds... It was so painful I nearly called an ambulance!

Hope it is something this simple for you

desperatehousewife · 27/06/2006 13:07

how long did it last for you?
