My mum arrived (with my dad) from the UK for a 4 week visit - she hadn't been here 4 hours before she was off to A&E in an ambulance.

She had chest pains in Singapore (but didn't mention it to anyone) and has low oxygen, trouble breathing etc. and a nose bleed, not sure if that's connected.

Family doctor (who sent her to A&E) think 50% sure Pulminary Embollism (sp?)

I am at home with ds and she has dh and my dad for company. Not heard anything yet.

Poor you, threebob - hope it all turns out OK and she can come home to you soon.

gladbag · 26/06/2006 07:03

Oh threebob. I hope you hear some reassuring news soon. The waiting is horrible, but I'm sure they'll take very good care of her. Let us know. Thinking of you all.

schneebly · 26/06/2006 07:43

I hope she is okay. Thinking about you and your family.

Piffle · 26/06/2006 07:47

not the best start to a holiday - hope you get positive news soon.

threebob · 26/06/2006 07:57

Still no real news, she is on oxygen and stable, raised blood pressure, giving the med students a hard time (that's reassuring and means she is feeling a little stronger).

My dad is with her still - he must be knackered beyond belief.

That sounds more positive .

Is there anyway of getting your dad home for a few hours sleep? Is your dh still at the hospital?

MrsJohnCusack · 26/06/2006 08:03

oh threebob
what a horrible start to the trip
hope you get some news soon

SoupDragon · 26/06/2006 08:04

I hope she continues to improve and gets to enjoy the rest of her holiday.

She's staying in overnight, dh has gone to pick up my dad who has now been awake for 3 days.

My next door neighbour is a Dr and a friend and has explained what they will do and when. Even if they don't find anything, she reckons they will keep her in for 24 hours.

Ds is really confused and upset now - he keeps saying that his Granny can't love him as she left just after she got here.

singersgirl · 26/06/2006 14:52

Hope everything's OK for her, threebob. Sorry to hear you're all going through this.

Marina · 26/06/2006 14:52

Hope she makes a speedy recovery threebob.
If she is backchatting medical students could your ds possibly visit her?

threebob · 26/06/2006 17:43

Ds is allergic to latex, so we will only take him into hospital if absolutely necessary as it's a pain for them to have to de latex a room - they did it for me when I had pneumonia, but I'm his mum.

He's sleeping in bed with dh at the moment, and I went to his bed so I could sleep and just ended up not sleeping.

Fingers crossed that your mum is back at the threebob house asap. xx

threebob · 26/06/2006 17:59

I'm going back to bed now to not sleep again.

I have realised that ds is sleeping on a terrible matress - I will get him a new one.

She is now on the stroke ward but as it's the same ward I was in last year I'm not reading too much into that. They have given her a bed with a view of the port hills, so at least she is getting a bit of holiday feeling.

CT scan this arvo and contrast xray thing some time soon.

They reckon she'll be in 3 days.
