Bakers cyst

Has anyone had a bakers cyst? If so, would you mind telling me what your symptoms were, how it felt and how it was diagnosed and treated?

I've had pain behind my knee for months and saw the Gp yesterday.

She examined my knee and the pain almost put my through the ceiling when she pressed the back of my knee towards the right (it's my left knee)

She has referred me for an ultrasound but in the meantime, what can I do?

Hi LittleNoona - there's some good information here. It also tells you what you can do while waiting for your investigations.

Hope you get sorted soon Smile

Thank you Bore Smile

I have no swelling behind my knee. Well maybe I have but I have quite a fat knee so probably just not noticeable Confused

I woke up one day with a shocking pain in my knee. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and my knees aren't usually affected, so I had a prod and a poke and noticed a massive lump behind the knee. I could barely walk, so hobbled along to the GP who diagnosed a baker's cyst. I was referred for an ultrasound but happened to have a rheumatologist appt before then and she said it wasn't necessary as it had ruptured. I did read that a ruptured baker's cyst can be a problem but the consultant didn't seem to think so, she said to make sure my lower thigh didn't get any more swollen than it was. It was pretty damn painful and odd feeling, you have my sympathies.

Sorry you had so much trouble with your knee Candy, and Bore, sorry that you're also afflicted by fat knees (not as fat as mine though I bet!)

Im still waiting on my ultrasound appointment - hopefully it will be through soon and I can find out what's going on. Mine is particularly bad if I bend it, and if i sit with my knee bent - up on the sofa or on a chair, of if I'm driving - it completely seizes up and I have to take about 10 - 15 steps before it loosens upHmm
