Anyone got advice on when is best to get it? What side effects have you noticed? I have given in to the argument that it seems the right thing to do to give the MMR rather than suffer the consequence of getting the diseases - just want to plan when the best time is to give it now that my son is due - he's 15 months now

Mine had it at 16 months (dd) and had a slight fever about ten days later. Nothing bad, and she didnt' even notice the jab itself.
I was worried before hand, especially as my friend's ds had a fever and febrile convulsions ten days after his...but he is very allergic and does tend to react strongly to all sorts of things.
dd sailed through it.

DS1 had it at 13 months or so, I don't remember any problem with it. DS2 had it at the same age, only last autumn, only I forgot he'd had it and tried to take him for it a second time, last week. Whoops. Good thing they keep track!

No problems either time.
