blood clots after birth (tmi)

it's been three weeks since the birth of DS. i had to have lots of membrane removed just after birth as it was causing me to bleed lots. they managed to take it away without me having to go into theatre. i was on anti-biotics for a week. i had cramps today and i just passed a big clot. i'm wondering if i should get it checked out or is it normal to still have loss like this a few weeks on?

Lochia generally lasts 3-5w, and IIRC I was told that any clots bigger than a walnut should be reported to your GP/midwife. You generally get cramps before passing a clot as it's too big to just trickle out of the cervix but needs to be pushed out. HTH

I had a clot (half the size of a gold ball) and the OB said it was impt. to keep moving to stop blood pooling in the vagina.

Then if I were you I would call the labour ward where you gave birth for advice.

Had one of these, but about 36 hours after ds was born - completely painless, weird sensation like being a pinball machine! I got it checked out by the midwife, which was easy as I was still in hosp. I'd say ring your midwives at the very least, and keep the 'evidence' maybe in a sealed plastic pot. Am not medically qualified in any way btw.
