Anyone here have TMJD (temporomandibular joint dysfunction) do you also have Fibromyalgia

I have both. I have just been diagnosed with the TMJD after going tot eh doc with the most awful earache- in both ears - a weird sharp headache and jaw pain.
I am struggling with it tbh. I have to deal with the flare ups of my Fibromyalgia and now this, the doc says I have a mild case of it , well if this is mild then I hate to think what severe cases are like.
I have been told to manage it with my fibro painkillers but I feel it is starting to impact on my daily life, perhaps more so than the Fibro which I don't have flare ups of all the time, if that makes sense

can anyone recommend some coping techniques?

Go and see your dentist they have a much better understanding of TMJ disfunction and can suggest pain meds and other treatments. If it is assoc with the fibro then your normal meds should help but anti inflammatory analgesics can be very effective if you can take them.

I went to a dentist - had to go private as no NHS available.
They told me to go to doc and discuss painreliefHmm

I suspect that they were hoping your GP would prescribe amitriptyline which is widely used for TMJ disfunction. As usual its the luck of the draw. Try asking your GP to refer you to the local maxilla facial surgeon, although they are reluctant to see TMJ problems if there is poor NHS provision locally they may be willing to see you. There are a number of dentists who specialize in TMJ and bite related disorders perhaps you could google and see if there are any local to you. Unfortunately the NHS does not adequately fund treatment of TMJ (it doesn't adequately fund much these days) and appliances for treatment can be expensive.
