Sainsbury's cholesterol test

Did this today - partly out of curiosity, partly out of boredom, and partly because I fancied being paid 50p for a blood sample test Grin

I got 5.94 which they said was quite high but as my HDL reading (good cholesterol) score was 1.97 they said that might account for it.

I eat a lot of rubbish (crisps etc.) but also a lot of good foods (oily fish, veg etc.) so those results were better than I expected.

My glucose reading was good as well which I was surprised by as I am always so grumpy when I'm hungry, I thought I might have a problem with blood sugar levels.

not heard about it. why sainsbury's, and did they rreally pay you? (rather than you paying them an enormous fee?)

A man had 11 cholesterol and weighed oer 20 stone. They gave him an angiogramm expecting his arteries to show bad clogging but were all was clear.
My niece has had 6 for years and was 7 in her last pregnancy, but as she has low blood pressure and high oxygen levels she was not put on Statins. Her high levels are not causing clogging in her arteries.

Mine was 6.9 and GP insisted I take them. Trouble is the good cholesterol is also reduced.

Eating lots of Olives has been successful in reducing cholesterol in some people.

I think the thing to look at is your ratio reading (less than 4 is good) as this will show proportion of good cholesterol vs bad. Mine was 3 so I'm not worried about my high level of total cholesterol as it means most of it is the good stuff.

The Statins + stuffed olives got my 6.9 down to 4.2, in 3 months but my bad cholesterol was still too high in relation to the good, so I was kept on the high dosage of Statins. I have a BMI of 20, having lost weight in the last 2 years and GP is worriedConfused.
Waiting for blood test results.
