Ouch, my ankle

I 'went over' on my ankle and it is now quite sore, particularly to stand on. I've got ice on it. It hasn't swollen up hugely, so I don't think it's broken.

Any advice? Do I need to see my GP or can I just assume it is a sprain? Any idea how long it will cause me problems for?

It will probably be bruised so expect some shades of purple over the next few days. Keep flexing the joint gradually putting more weight on that foot over a few days , take nurofen and apply arnica gel. If it doesn't ease over the next week or so then see gp in case you need an xray as it is a fallacy that no swelling = no break , can be opposite in fact. However it could take a month or more to feel normal even if "just" a minor sprain.

Poor you, agree do seek advice if it doesn't settle. I 'went over' on my ankle in April and it is still far from right, am having ongoing physio that will be until at least Christmas. Sprains can be horrible things.

Thanks both. The last time I did this to an ankle (I can't remember if it is the same one) I remember trying on ankle boots many months later and realising that it was still a bit swollen.

It's feeling a bit better. Partly because I am no longer having to walk across uneven ground to get to the loo at the campsite we were staying on.

I'm not sure about driving to work on Monday though and DH isn't best pleased about having to do everything I have planned for this weekend.
