just wondering, am I right in thinking Health Visitors offer a three to three and a half year old check which includes hearing and vision?

Or not?

My HV said dd's next check would be at 3.5.

Round here you just get a list of things your child is expected to be able to do by the age of 4. You only see the HV if you have any concerns.

it checks all developmental milestones, including speech, hearing, motor skills, behaviour etc, if anything is flagged up they will normally do another one at 4 before school

we get a form and you tick the boxes thats our 3/4yr check !!

They don't do the 3.5 year check in this area anymore; there's nothing after 21 months, not even a pre-school check - that's just a tick-sheet now that is sent to the school nurse.

Many areas are cutting costs = cutting the 3yr checks.

I too got a letter sent with a tick chart asking if my child could or couldn't do each developmental milestone.
My opinion is that parents who are clued up enough to see that their child is struggling in an area will also be clued up enough to seek advice from gp/hv.
Parents who aren't clued up enough to tick appropriately also won't be clued up enough to seek advice therefore the whole thing is a pile of s*.
This be the reason why my questionnaire went straight in the bin and so should everyone elses!

Agree with you there Hattie, how many children are struggling in school etc for example because a hearing problem has not been picked up because hearing teste are not routine before school.
