septoplasty problem.

Right then, last month i had a planned septoplasty, everything seemed to go great and for 3 weeks I only had minor discomfort, no real problems with a lot of swelling nothing. Then on week 3 the left nostril where i had also had a bone spur removed became problematic, tight, uncomfortable and blocked all the time. Other side no problems.

I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced any problems post surgery of this kind, I'm now 5 weeks post op and can't see my surgeon for a further 2 weeks. I saw my GP and got a weeks worth of antibiotics which have done nothing Confused.

Don't know what I'm after really, just others views.
Thanks.

Well I was warned it would take months for the swelling and congestion to go down and be able to breath through my nose reliably again after my FESS, septoplasty, polypectomy and turbinectomy. It did seem to clear after a few weeks and then get worse again, ( perhaps because I went from the strong to the weaker steroid drops) but now almost a year later everything is settled and sinus infections are rarer. I had to have some antibiotics once the biopsy results came through., but that was related to the sinus infection and lung troubles I was having.
5 weeks is still very early days.
Are you still regularly using saline rinses? If not perhaps restart them? Are you using steroid drops i know not everyone needs them? Can you speak to the specialist on the phone or write / email for advice? Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you magso thats reassuring to hear. I think i panicked as it was all going so well. I was told to wait upto 3 months for it all to settle so i know i'm being impatient, and as for saline rinses I think i've almost cleared out boots Smile.

I got a bit frustrated by the set backs too.
