Something in my throat - noodle phobia?!

This is a bit of a weird one but about a month or so ago on a business lunch in a chinese restaurant I got really scared I was going to choke as I felt like I had something in my throat. I wasnt particularly anxious or anything at the time but it was quite a scary feeling and I couldnt eat anything.

Since then I keep getting the same thing like there is something in my throat and I cant swallow what I am eating. I am now having trouble eating the majority of the time. It is worse if I think about it. Now I know the likelyhood is that this is something weirdly psychological not physical but was wondering if anyone has ever had similar and what they did to get rid of it. I dont feel stressed or anything I just cant eat without gagging?

Could it be something like a fishbone?

I dont think so, it doesnt feel funny when I'm not eating and I cant feel anything when I have a drink either? Would that be possible with a fish bone?

I think you need to find out if there is anything stuck in your throat first and then take it from there.

Hiya
Does it feel like your choking, and that you need to be sick??
I suffer with similar problems, and if it is, i will let you know all about it!!

foxinsocks · 17/06/2006 10:57

yes I agree, you need to go to the GP who can check if there is anything in your throat.

I get this type of feeling if I have had a bad runny nose - it's a sort of post nasal drip so I feel like the back of my throat is constantly covered in mucus and it makes it hard to eat without first trying to clear the throat.

Thanks everyone, am going to make an appointment at the docs in the morning. To be honest I really don't think there's anything in there, it is definitely worse when I think about it and it sounds suspicously like yours floatingonthemed. What do you do when you get it? It took me hours to eat my tea yesterday and I was so hungry :(

I know what you mean... I used to feel like I had a sharp chip stuck in my throat. There was no pain, it was just really irratating.

I came and went for a few months until I finally went to the docs, who told me it was just a throat infection, had some antibiotics and it all cleared up.
hope it goes well...
