Thyroid module anyone?

I have had a well controlled under active thyroid for nearly 20 years. Yesterday I went for an ultrasound based on odd symptoms I've had this year (tinnitus, odd feeling at the back of my throat/nose, metallic taste). Doctor found a 8mm module, said lymph nodes were normal size and salivary glands normal, apparently they don't do anything with nodes < 1 cm, so no further action.

GP has worried me today though, said I need a biopsy. Could this still be cancer? :(

Yes, it could be cancer which is why your GP wants to check it isn't but its very, very unlikely. A lot of tests and investigations we have are to rule out anything nasty, not because the doctors think it is something nasty but because they wouldn't be doing their jobs properly if they didn't investigate properly.

It sounds like your GP is erring on the side of caution which is good.

Does the metallic taste and or funny feeling at top of my throat sound significant ? Ultrasound doc thought it would be unrelated. But it must be happening for some reason?

No idea. The doctor's the best person to advise and if he/she thinks its unrelated then you need to trust them.
