My DS (4) stubbed his toe and the nail has half come off down one side. It has stopped bleeding. What should i do? Leave it on , take it off ??

dd2 did this a few weeks back.I took it off as the thought of her catching it on something made me wince.

I thought that too but i don't think he will take very well to me taking it of. All has been well so far today so am leaving it for the time being.

I would leave it for now, put a plaster on to stop it catching. Once it's healed in a couple of days you should be able to but the broken bit of nail off with nail clippers without making it hurt or bleed. I would do it when he's asleep so he's still!

owwwwww though.

Leave it but i would let the air get to it a bit to dry it out (where it has been bleeding), if he has to wear socks then put a plaster on it, the other half of nail might fall off on its own.
