Palpitations

I had these for around 4 days now, on and off, sort of quickenings. Been quite stressed this last week and feeling pretty anxious about a few things. Do I need to get it checked out? No other symptoms, just feeling down really. I have had them before but not as frequent as this.

I can get them when stressed too.

I would pop along to the doctor and see if they can do a ECG ( most health centres have one) it will probably reassure you and they will become less noticable .

I get these now and then usually at times of stress but I also think its one of the many symptoms of perimenopause. I also had palps when I was hyperthyroid. Last time I had them over a long period, longer than usual, so I went to see GP, had ECG and still all was normal. A lot of people experience palpitations and usually its not a sign of a serious problem. I think if you are experiencing other symptoms too - blackouts, fainting, dizziness it's an A&E job - otherwise go see your GP and have a check up.

I first got palpitations when I was going through marriage problems and a lot of stress. I worried that it was my heart but it turned out to be panic attacks. It's always wise to get it checked out just to establish if it's a physical complaint or emotional, as even the latter can feel very real and be very debilitating. Good luck.
