OK I need help ans want to know if something is seriously wrong with me. Sorry if TMI !!

Ok I am going to be discussing my pooh here so if you don't want to know click away now

On Monday I went for a pooh and realised that it had some blood in it, nothing else unusual just some blood.

On Tuesday I had the runs badly and my stomach hurt a lot.

On Wednesday it felt much better with only a small amount of dihorea (sp) but no pain
so I though it was all over.

Most of today no problem until about 6pm I went ot the loo after having bad cramps and had horrible dihorea again and this time there was a medium amount of blood in with it.

I know this isn't a nice subject but I could really do with some advice on what it could be, I have recently moved about 25 miles and haven't joined a Dr's here yet, DH has said he will drive me over to our old Dr's tomorrow but I really have better things to be doing.

Do you think that I should see a Dr or does anyone have any clues as to what this could be, if you know anyone medical please ask them.

You really must see a doctor - this is very important. Is probably nothing, but potentially serious.

I'm no doctor, but blood in poos is not a good thing surely? Can you telephone NHS Direct?

It sounds like IBS - have you been under a lot of stress? Are you usually susceptible to digestive/poo-related problems when stressed/unhappy/run down?

I think you should definitely see your doctor asap, because it's ALWAYS a good idea to get checked and rule out the very rare things. But try not to worry, because if it is IBS that won't help at all. :)

I have IBS with terrible cramps and all the general indignity that comes with it - it is treatable. I hope you get sorted out soon xxx

When my pooh was solid it was kind of in a patch very clear to see on top , when in dihorea it was just a blob of blood in amongst all the pooh.

Another vote for a visit to the GP, ring NHS direct and explain you are not yet registered with a GP, they may be able to asess the situation and maybe get you to see a doctor in a Walk-in Centre or A&E. But don't leave it for later.

freesh blood occurs lower down in the gastro intestinile tract. If you are only passing small amounts and other wise feel ok it has possibly come from a wee tear or a pile. If you have severe abdominal pain or the bleeding gets worse go to a and e otherwise phone a drs surgery and make an appt to be seen and get regestered.

But don't panic - it's not likely to be anything really sinister - get yourself to the doc, as soon as you possibly can. Good luck with it xx

Bright red blood usually indicates something like piles a fissure etc so is potentially harmless and very common.If the poo is black/tarrish(sorry)this indicates blood further up the digestive tract which has been there some time and hence the colour This is more dangerous and needs to be looked at quickish although it can simply be a severe gastro infection Go to the doctor to be sure HTH

Thank-you guys you really have helped, it is definately fresh blood and I am sure that the pains I have been having have been linked to the dihorea (possibly a bug).

I shall keep an eye on it for the nest few days and hopefully shall never have to discuss my pooh on MN ever again, now please wipe this thread from your memory.

I had similar symptoms last year (as did my partner) mine was done to IBS and the pressure of not clearing bowel cause piles which burst - hence bright read blood - partners was just piles!!

Do get it checked out but the other correct is saying that its dark red/black blood mixed in faecas that you should woory about - you can get a DIY stook test kit off the next but it always advisable to consult a Gp - they will examine you probably ask for a stool sample and you may end up with a milkd laxative like fibre gel or a bulk forming supplement like normal - depends on how ofter you are suffering with Diarrohea - look up IBS on the net and see if your symptons match as there are three different typs of IBs that can be diagnosed.

Since I have been on my medication all my symptons have disappeared. Dont worry I am sure IBS is the problem.
