Periods driving me insane!

Hi!

New here so please bear with me. Basically I have always had irregular periods - apart from when I was on the pill. I've been checked out at the doctors with a normal scan and LH/FSH levels and I'm being referred to a fertility doctor. My question is if my hormones are "normal" why do I suffer so much? I've worked out that my cycle is around 50 days and at certain times of the month I feel exhausted, dizzy and I also get awful constipation. This happens around 10 days before my period starts. Is this normal? How do other people feel in the week or so leading up to their period? I'm worried that something is seriously wrong even though I've been told that my tests are fine :(

When was the blood test done in your cycle?. Ideally LH and FSH should be tested on day 2 of this. Any later is a waste of time. LH and FSH are very important as these kickstart the ovulation process. If these are awry then ovulation is affected. If you've always had irregular periods they should be looking at PCOS and or thyroid imbalance as possible causes.

When was the scan done and what sort was it (internal ultrasound?). They were probably looking for signs of polycystic ovaries, this is a common cause of irregular periods.

You need a diagnosis first and foremost. Would suggest also that in the meantime you keep a symptom diary detailing the exhaustion, dizziness and constipation.
